Economic Development Strategic Plan

S. B. Friedman & Company was engaged by the Village to prepare an economic development strategic plan for this older DuPage County suburb of Chicago . Our scope included preparing an economic and social profile of the Village; assessing the Village’s competitive position vis-a-vis surrounding communities; conducting focus groups sessions with various community interest groups to identify Village strengths and weaknesses; identifying economic development opportunities; preparing action steps and strategies to enhance and optimize economic development opportunities; prioritizing project initiatives; identifying facilitating and responsible organizations to carry out economic development projects, including public-private partnerships; and making suggestions on implementation of economic development programs, complementary land use, and zoning changes.

The project resulted in a detailed action plan identifying key priorities for the Village including downtown development, addressing problems at certain housing developments, and seeking to enhance development of commercial corridors and districts.
