Stephen B. Friedman, AICP, CRE - President,
brings
more than 30 years of experience in real estate and development
advisory services. He has authored several articles, spoken at many
state and national association conferences, and served on several
community assistance panels. In 1994, he served as series chairman for
the Urban Land Institute Chicago District Council’s “An Agenda for
Growth of the Chicago Region,” and served as chair of the ULI
Chicago District Council from 1998 to 2000. He is a member of the
American Society of Real Estate Counselors, holds the AICP designation
as a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, and is a
full member of the Urban Land Institute. He recently was appointed to
the University
of
Illinois
at
Chicago’s College
of Urban Planning and Public Affairs Advisory Council and is a trustee of his
undergraduate college. Steve holds a B.A. from Goddard College
in Plainfield, VT
and a
M.S. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison.

Paul A. Dillon,
CMC -
Advisor,
is
an expert in the areas of transportation land use and aviation-related
development. He is the president and CEO of Dillon
Consulting Services LLC (www.dillonconsult.com),
a Chicago-based business and non-profit advisory firm. With over 35
years of experience, he has directed many studies, among them the
economic impact of commuter rail station location alternatives, an
analysis of land use at Chicago O'Hare International Airport and Los
Angeles International Airport, a redevelopment program for Navy
Pier, a tax and employment analysis of the North Loop Redevelopment
area, and market and financial feasibility analyses for a new downtown
headquarters for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of
Greater Chicago. Paul has served on numerous non-profit boards
and federal, gubernatorial, legislative and mayoral advisory
commissions and committees. He is currently a trustee of the Chicago
School of Professional Psychology, and a Public Member and
Commissioner of the national Commission for Case Manager
Certification.
Mark
Angelini
- Practice Leader, has
wide-ranging experience in economic and real estate development, most
recently as Vice President of an award-winning developer of mixed-use
properties in urban and suburban locations. In that capacity, he
has managed all aspects of commercial, residential and industrial
development – including master planning, design, entitlements,
budgeting, financing, sales and marketing, leasing and management for
projects valued in excess of $250 million. In addition, Mark has
held leadership positions in various non-profit organizations and in
federal and local government, including serving as Executive Assistant
for Economic Development to U.S. Senator Paul Simon and as a staff
director for economic development in the Chicago City Council.
Mark is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago.
He is also an active member of the Urban Land Institute,
serving on the Executive Committee of its Chicago District Council,
and the Metropolitan Planning Council as a member of the Resource
Board.
Mark holds a B.S. in Engineering, Cum Laude, from the University of
Notre Dame and a M.S. in Engineering from Northwestern
University.
Tony Smith, AICP -
Practice
Leader,
is a planner and
real estate analyst with experience in downtown, corridor, and
transit-oriented development planning, tax increment financing
analysis, real estate financial analysis, and market analysis.
While at S. B. Friedman & Company, he has
performed financial gap analyses, and prepared market analyses, tax
increment financing projections, TIF district eligibility studies and
plans, station area development plans, and economic development
strategies. He has also assisted clients with public-private
partnership negotiations and deal structuring. Tony holds a
Master’s in City Planning, a Post-Master’s Certificate for study
in Transportation and Infrastructure Planning, and a B.A. in Urban
Studies and Environmental Studies, all from the University of
Pennsylvania. He is a member of the American Planning
Association, the Urban Land Institute, and the Congress for the New
Urbanism. He recently authored an article entitled “Market
Analysis: a Zoning Necessity” for the February 2006 issue of the
American Planning Association’s Zoning Practice magazine.
Ranadip
Bose,
AICP - Senior Project Manager,
has
experience in economic and demographic analysis of regions, real
estate analysis and GIS
applications. He combines real estate concepts, urban planning
principles, and GIS
tools to conduct real estate market and feasibility studies and
prepare economic development and redevelopment plans. Ranadip received
his graduate degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University
of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has a bachelor’s degree in architecture with
honors from Jadavpur University, India. He is a member of the American Planning Association and the Indian
Institute of Architects.
Carmelo
Barbaro -
Project Manager, has
experience in real estate development, market research and planning
analysis. He holds an A.B. in Government from Harvard University, and an
M.Sc. in Regional and Urban Planning Studies from the London
School of Economics. He is a member of the American Planning
Association and the Urban Land Institute.
Geoff
Dickinson,
AICP - Project Manager,
has
experience in corridor planning, financial feasibility analysis,
market feasibility analysis, and fiscal impact analysis. His work at S.
B. Friedman & Company has included market and economic
feasibility studies, tax increment financing (
TIF
) projections, financial gap analyses,
TIF
district eligibility studies and plans, area planning studies,
assistance with developer solicitation and land disposition processes.
Geoff holds a B.A. in History from
Northwestern
University, and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning degree, with a
specialization in economic development, from the University
of
Michigan. He is a member of the American Planning Association and
serves on the Executive Committee of the National Brownfield
Association – Illinois Chapter.
Jewell
W. Walton,
AICP - Project Manager,
has experience in community and economic development, transit-oriented
development, downtown planning, tax increment financing issues, and
market research. During her tenure at S.
B. Friedman & Company, she has prepared market analyses, TIF
district eligibility studies, and tax increment financing projections and
performed financial gap analyses. Jewell holds a Master’s in Urban
Planning and Policy, with a specialization in Economic Development,
from the University
of Illinois at Chicago. She serves as a commissioner for the City of
Country Club Hills Economic Development Commission and is
a member of the American Planning Association. She received her B.A. in Business Administration and Sociology from Illinois
Wesleyan University.
Elizabeth
Schuh,
AICP, LEED GA - Associate Project Manager, has
experience in economic and fiscal impact analyses, special and
business improvement district establishment, market analysis, economic
development, strategic planning, and community development. She
holds a Master of Urban and Regional Planning degree as well as a
Certificate in Real Estate Development from the University
of Michigan. She has a B.A. in Community
Psychology from the University
of
Illinois. She is a member of the American
Planning Association, the Urban Land Institute, and the Chicago
Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council.
Claudine
S. Emeott – Associate,
has experience in affordable housing, economic development finance,
and land use and transportation planning.
She holds a Master of City Planning degree from the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received a Bachelor of Arts
degree in East Asian Studies from Harvard University.
Parisa
Ford - Associate,
has
experience in land use
planning, urban economics, cultural resource preservation, and
community revitalization.
She holds a Master of
Science degree in Urban and Regional Planning, with a specialization
in Economic Development, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape
Architecture, with a specialization in Landscape History and Cultural
Landscape Preservation, both earned at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison.
Jolene
Saul, AICP -
Associate,
has experience in affordable housing, community and economic
development, market analysis and planning research.
She holds a Master of Urban Planning degree with a
specialization in Housing and Economic Development from
New York
University
.
She attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and
received Bachelor of Science degrees in Economics and Writing.
She is a member of the American Planning Association and the
Urban Land Institute.
Harpreet
Gill - Research Associate,
has
experience in quantitative and qualitative planning research and
spatial data visualization.
Harpreet holds a B.A. in Geography with a concentration in
Metropolitan Land Use Planning and a minor in Economics from DePaul
University. She is a member of the Association of American Geographers.
